The STIPA calamagrostis Allgäu is a clump-forming deciduous perennial grass with tight, arching green leaves and panicles of feathery silver-green flowers in summer. The flowers are slightly larger and spread over a longer period than the species. When the flowers and leaves die, they turn a buff color and remain on the plant all winter.
