A pretty iris-like flower from South Africa. It grows in clumps of dark green, stiff, sword-shaped leaves, producing numerous flowers from late spring to summer. The flowers are white with yellow nectar guides and purple centres. Dietes grandiflora like sunny or partly shaded locations. They flower best when watered regularly, but are still very drought tolerant. If you plant them in regions with temperatures below -7°C, protect them during the winter or grow them in pots for indoor storage.
